Garreth Brooke – Black Rain from the debut album Coping Mechanism

Description

Anna Heller plays the original piano music “Black Rain” by Garreth Brooke.
Black Rain is inspired by one of the closing scenes in the novel of the same name by Masuji Ibuse, an astonishing and profoundly grim semi-autobiographical account of the bombing of Hiroshima. Towards the end, the protagonist, who survives all the destruction, sees some unscathed baby eels swimming in a stream. The sight of these miraculous survivors gives the protagonist hope.

First released on my debut album Coping Mechanism, the composer re-recorded it on my beautiful C. Bechstein upright and released it in 2022.

This is an intermediate level piece, roughly UK Grade 4, in A major.
