What does music mean to you personally?

I really feel happy thanks to the music. I love to communicate and expressing myself telling music stories and imagining pictures.
I don't need to compose complicate music , it´s more important for to talk with the audience in his own language and help them feel good.

Do you agree that music is all about fantasy?

Music is…everything: Language, mathematics, science, communication, psychology, technique... and if we mix all of that with fantasy…we get it!!

If you were not a professional musician, what would you have been?

I love create, so I would like to be writer, scientist, architect, painter…
And I love to help people too, so doctor, international cooperator…
I´m thinking … I love all professions!

The classical music audience is getting old, are you worried about your future?

Well, it´s important to understand new audience and necessities. Times are changing and now people need another kind of concert, more friendly. I´m not worried because I know people loves music… so let´s try to show it in different ways.

What do you envision the role of classical music to be in the 21 century? Do you see that there is a transformation of this role?

Classical music in 21Th century should be like live in 21th century. Now we speak in different way like 100 years ago. More directly, friendly, passionate, telling stories… Also, film music it´s very important. But sometimes film music it´s like an industry with some composers working and only one signing his name. I think it´s not entirely sincere I love composer who writes every and each note, without assistants , and composing everything by himself, likes most important composers of History.
Also, new technologies help us in new technique for composing…so …let´s use it for composing in the 21th language .

When I say that classical music is searching for new ways or that the classical music is getting a new face, what would come to your mind?

I think you are right. Historically, Arts have always sought new forms of expression so why not now? People dress in different ways , and we don´t need compose in the same way. We can mix it with jazz, ethnic, historic, film, pop/rock, electronic… whatever you want…if you don´t hurt the ears 

Do you think that the classical musician today needs to be more creative? Whats the role of creativity in the musical process for you?

Classical music now is creative…but sometimes they haven´t the supporting of majors, which need short-term results.
Creativity for composing is…everything! 40 pupils can learn the same technique from the same teacher…but only one or two compose with feeling and make you cry. Why? Thanks to creativity.
Technique is important, of course, but first creativity.

Do you think we musicians can do something to attract young generation into the classical music concerts? How will you proceed?

Of course, and now we are doing different concerts. Do you imagine a list of songs in a Rolling Stones concert? What about surprise effect? Or ..why do you want to go to any city? Maybe because you know about it thanks to pictures and videos…so let´s audience record it and share on social networks! sometimes and without disturbing, of course.

Tell us about your creative process. Do you have your favourite piece (written by you) How did you start working on it?

First of all I need to know what I want to communicate. Then I let my soul compose.
Just now, my favourite piece is “Symphony for a Better World”. It´s not only music, it´s my way to say to the people: “let´s do something for getting a better world, all together. Please, now”

We, Moving Classics TV, love the combination of classical music with different disciplines: music and painting, music and cinematography, music and digital art, music and poetry. What do you think about these combinations?

I love every form of art. So , let´s mix all of them, please! Now I´m composing WE EARTH choreographed by Camille Hanson , and “ALWAYS IN ANY PLACE”, by Paula Quintana. Aslo, “Sustainable development” was composed thinking about pictures, and J.C. Arevalo did a video with GREENPEACE pictures.

Can you give some advice for young people who want to discover classical music for themselves?

Classical music show as many ways of feelings, using the principal musical elements: pitch, duration, loudness, timbre, sonic texture and special location. If they listen to classical music attending to it, they feel music in a new way.
Film music cames from classical music. For example: listen to “Star Wars” by J. Williams and then listen to “ Mars” by Holst. Both are fantastic, so they only have to discover classical music.

Now it is a common practice in the media to talk that the classical music is getting into the consumption business, do you agree? We are speaking about the supply and demand rules and how to sell your “product” in your case your compositions. How do you see it?

If we compose music and we don´t know how to show it, we have a problem. Somehow we have to sell our “product” and there is majors or internet.
Majors can help to let people know new fantastic compositions and earn money at time. If you haven´t major supporting, you can use internet and little by little people will know about you.
MacDonalds sells millions of hamburgers…are that burger the best?
So…who is the best musician? The one that sells the most? Is he a bad or good musician if he´s popular? Better or worst than others? We don´t know, because Music is ant art for sharing , not a competition.

Do you have expectations what regards your listeners, your audience?

I love to communicate with people, in different ways. I´m not afraid in my concerts, because it´s not an exam, I´m just sharing what I feel and then I look at them crying or smiling. Then..I feel happy.

What projects are coming up? Do you experiment in your projects?

I´m premiering around the world my “Symphony for a better world“ thanks to “Dancing for the Millennium Goals“ foundation, with UNESCO supporting.
Of course, I love to experiment in my projects, mixing music with pictures, dancing, new instruments with the symphonyc orchestra like digeridoo, djembé ...and electronic percussion for creating differents sounds.
