Location

The Gümüşlük International Classical Music Festival is held in the small fishing village of Gümüşlük on the south west coast of Turkey. It began in 2004 as a series of concerts and has grown to be a meeting place for internationally renowned musicians and up-and-coming performers. The concerts held in the 250 year old church until 2012 have now moved to the ancient stone quarry of Koyunbaba. The quarry is where King Mausolus excavated the stones for his palace and the mausoleum , one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

The festival has a dedicated masterclass program and, since 2012 a bi-annual piano competition - in the name of Ahmed Adnan Saygun. The organisers seek to maintain a relaxed atmosphere to counterbalance the often stressful environment of music conservatoires; teachers and students are encouraged to interact as much as possible, both musically and socially.
