“Serenade” by French opera prima donna of Spanish origin Paulina Viardot-Garcia (composed in 1885 in Baden-Baden Germany) is one of the only two compositions for piano solo that survived.
Paulina Viardot wrote to Clara Schumann in her letter: “You do not know how much work goes into each individual piece – the artist has to be continuously creative – he has to think up human, living, feeling, passionate, perfect characters that are true to nature right down to the smallest detail and present them to the audience. Creative master and creative artist are inseparable; together they create the highest and noblest of man´s pleasures, art”
