Luis Lugo :”Piano echoes Extravagace / Experience”

The Cuban pianist and composer Luis Lugo is one of the most prominent interpreters of classical and Cuban music. He possesses a long and outstanding trajectory in different countries in Latin America and Europe. Lugo is one of the few artists in the world that can perform –in one same concert– from classical plays, such as Scriabin’s or Rachmaninoff’s sonata, to the most popular Ibero-American, Cuban or jazz repertoire, with a novel harmonic conception and virtuous creativity, while conserving a concert style in any of the fore mentioned genres. He is recognized by the media and specialized critics as being a giant of Cuban music at an international level and is considered “Cuba’s piano.” He has studied for eleven years with Mercedes Esteves, Cesar López, and Silvio Rodríguez Cárdenas in the “Conservatorio de Música Amadeo Roldan de la Habana”, where he received an honor diploma and the national piano award. During these years Lugo was also attending classes at the “Instituto Superior de Música de la Habana” with the prestigious Russian pianist, Valery Kamichov. Lugo obtained a bachelor in music and a master in Fine Arts at the “Conservatorio Tchaikovsky” of Moscú. He realized master studies of aesthetic in the “Superior de Arte de la Habana” and cinema history in the “Universidad de La Habana”. For his artistic merits he became member of the “Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba”. Lugo has been invited to the “Festival Internacional Gran Fiesta of the Royal Festival Hall” (London), “Festival Latinoamericano in Villa Gessell”(Buenos Aires), Festival Internacional del Grek (Barcelona). He has been jury memeber at the first “Festival Nacional de Arte Lírico” in La Habana and at the fifth “Festival Internacional and Music Contest” in the Teatro Colon (Buenos Aires). His concert “Luis Lugo piano de Cuba” was declared by the “Secretaría de Cultura de la Nación Argentina” as a cultural interest. He also coordinated and realized an international cycle: “The piano: “ reflex of the social human evolution”, five scheduled dates at the 6th “Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires” in the Teatro Colón.
