Owen David – Sketch for a Pavane

Description

Anna Sutyagina plays the original composition by Owen David “Sketch for a Pavane” Owen has always had a fondness for the Pavane form, particularly as developed by Faure and Ravel. He is intrigued by the idea of deep emotions being expressed within the confines of what was originally a slow accompaniment to a stately dance. His ambition is to create an orchestral version of the Pavane which is why he titles this piece as only a ‘sketch’. Both Faure and Ravel created their Pavanes as solo piano pieces first, before orchestrating them so he hopes one day to follow in their footsteps.
