Profile
Petros Bouras was born in 1983 in Athens, Greece. At the age of seven he began his piano studies and when he was 15 years old he performed with the great composer Mikis Theodorakis. In June 2006 he received his diploma from the Musical Horizons Conservatory with exceptional grade, and one month later he attended classes in the International Summer Musical Academy of Alsace (Musicalta). On November of the same year, after audition, he was accepted by Trinity College of Music for a Master on Performing in the class of Professor Yonty Solomon.
During the following two years he attended various seminars by great piano soloists including France Clidat, Bernard Ringeissen, Francesco Nicolosi, Alberto Portugheis, Brigitte Engerer and Alexandra Papastefanou.
Since then, he has worked as an accompanist of the Ballet Company of the Greek National Opera. He has given plenty of concerts, including piano concerto with the Greek National Orchestra in Megaron, Athens Music Hall, and personal recitals in various halls, such as Palais de Beaux Arts (Brussels), Halles de Schaerbeek (Brussels), Parnassos Music Hall and Goethe Institut.
Since 2010 he is member of the Oticons Orchestra and Ensemble, whereby he has performed with musicians such as the Japanese composer Shigeru Umebayashi and the great Belgian conductor-composer Dirk Brosse.
He is a member of Galan Trio, with Marina Kolovou and Dimitra Triantafyllou (principal cello and violin of the Greek National Opera’s Orchestra), which has performed several concerts in Greece and abroad. He is also a member of the “Piano Obsession” piano duet.
Many Greek composers have asked him to give the first public performance of theirs works of Greek composers such as Th. Antoniou and G. Kouroupos. He has worked with directors in theatres like Karolos Koun Art Theatre, and with music conductors such as A. Tselikas (conductor of Athens State Orchestra) and M. Michailidis (artistic director of Greek National Opera).
