As of 2014 Gasbarroni's career has taken him to 70 countries in the world. He has had the good fortune to have performed repetitively to rave reviews in concert halls as far flung as of Moscow, St. Petersburg, New York, Amsterdam, Tel-Aviv, Peking, Oslo, Stockholm, Vienna, Budapest, Istambul, Madrid, Lisbon, Rome, Beograd, Athens, Munich and Hamburg, Cracow and Warsaw, Praha.
That said : it is in Russia - where cultural interests vastly exceed that of the west - that Massimo Gasbarroni has enjoyed his greatest success ; first being received by the Guitar Society of Moscow in 1963 ("Italy, homeland of illustrious musicians, has found a great Interpreter in you”), and from there, trough the GOSCONCERT, performing 13 concert tours that ranged the entire country, from the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall of Moscow and the Great Hall of Saint Petersburg to the most important Philharmonics of the former Soviet Union.
Studying first with the Gian Battista Noceti, a Genovese creator of the harpguitar, afterwards Gasbarroni was enrolled in the first curriculum established for the guitar in Italy at the “Santa Cecilia” Conservatory of Rome (1955). Later on, he pursued his studies at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena - also studying with Alirio Díaz and Andrés Segovia. He teaches guitar at the Conservatory of Music “San Pietro a Majella” of Naples.
Krzysztof Penderecki invited him to hold advanced teaching at the Krakow Academy.
Critics praise the Italian virtuoso for his sensitive interpretations, his stylistic versatility and his technical skill. "The satisfaction that Gasbarroni gives to his listeners is beyond the power of speech to convey", writes the authoritative American musicologist George Miller. the Italian guitarist performed in many famous halls: Tchaicovski Hall of Moscow, the Great Hall of St.Petersburg Philharmonic.
He is expertise of: Isaac Albeniz (19 own transcriptions) and Heitor Villa-Lobos (courses In Brazil and worldwide countries).
