Anna Sutyagina plays the original music Notturno #3 by Giuseppe de Rosa from his album “SpAXiano”. The word night comes from the Latin “Nox” (“Nyx” in Greek) which in turn derives from the Sanskrit “Nac”, which means “time in which the light disappears”.
The expression “spend the night in white” instead comes from a tradition of the Middle Ages. The knights spent the night before investiture in a chapel, in prayer and meditation, wearing a white robe, a symbol of purity.
The night inspired the composer of this nocturne … the charm and mystery of the night is revealed with the rising of dawn when the nocturne in the last part becomes more reassuring and bright like the birth of the day.
