Guillermo Martinez's music is performed in the Austria, Italy, France, Germany, UK, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, Lithuania, Cuba, Morocco and United States. Among the interpreters of his works include institutions such as EuropaChorAkademie, St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra, Choir and Orchestra of the Opera of Kiev, Orquesta Oviedo Filarmonía, Orquesta Ars Mundi, Youth Orchestra of the Principality of Asturias, Janus Ensemble, Cuarteto Vocal Español (of the Spanish National Radio Choir), Cuarteto Vocal Cavatina, Psappha Ensemble, Quatuor Danel, Cuarteto Vínculos, Khorikos, Coro El León de Oro, Landarbaso Koroa, Ad Solem Chamber Ensemble, Coro Universitario de Oviedo, Coro Xenakis, and so on. Likewise, Martínez has seventeen publications among CD, DVD and sheet music.
In 2012, Martinez wins the «FIRST NATIONAL COMPETITION OF YOUNG COMPOSERS - CITY OF OVIEDO». The winning piece has been premiered in the summer of 2014 by the violinist Gerard Claret and the Orquesta Oviedo Filarmonía, under baton of its principal conductor, the maestro Marzio Conti. Likewise, it will also be published by the prestigious DURAND - SALABERT - UNIVERSAL in the coming months.
Among the recent premieres worth highlighting the presentation of his "Concerto for piano and orchestra No.I", piece commissioned by the Jornadas de Piano "Luis G. Iberni" and premiered in the frame of this festival, last November 2013. The concerto was presented by Argentine soloist Dr.h.c. Horacio Lavandera.
Born in Venezuela, Guillermo Martinez studied organ and composition at the Superior Conservatory of Music of Oviedo, under the tutelage of teachers Antonio Corveiras and Prof. Victor Leoncio Diéguez respectively. Later, he develops a Masters in Music (composition) degree at the University of Manchester in the class of Dr. Richard WHALLEY (with distinctions). The composer was awarded with one scholarship "Cajastur for Artists - 2009" for the realization of this Masters.
Martínez has participated as a guest student in the Master Class of composition of the Northerm Royal College of Music (2011), offered by the composer Brian Ferneyhough. Also, he was invited to the Master Class in composition and music education, offered by Alberto Grau and Maria Guinand (Venezuelan's Sistema) in Bremer Hochschule, Germany (2010).
Along with his career as a composer, Guillermo Martinez has developed an active career as organist and cantor. He is a member of EuropaChorAkademie Since 2000, institutions with which acts on the principal stages of the U.S., China, and Europe, under the baton of figures like Gielen, Penderecki, Cambreling, Ashkenazy, V. Jurowski, Placido Domingo, etc. As a member of the choir El León de Oro won two national Gran Prixes (2003, 2006), among many other national and international recognitions.Martínez has also been organist of the Cathedral of Oviedo (2006/08) offering concerts in France and Spain, and collaborating with several orchestras. In this facet of organist has participated in courses with the masters Andrés Cea and Jean Claude Zendher.
Guillermo Martinez's work has been broadcast on radio and TV in America and Europe.
