Gianmaria Griglio, Conductor, composer
Netherlands, Den Haag
My approach to classical music:
Music does not need to be understood, it needs to be felt. A perfect performance does not exist, at least not for me: I can always always find something that could have gone better. However, making music with other people and touching someone's soul in the audience, makes up for all imperfections.
I'm Italian, got a degree in violin and conducting and a master from Bard College, NY. I love contemporary music: the years spent as Music Director of International Opera Theater Philadelphia, working on a brand new opera every year, were extremely exciting. Composing is my other side, where I can dig deep into the darkness of my soul.
